“I’ve learned that I don’t suffer from insanity, I enjoy it.” – Thanks Magoo!

It was a good surprise… he already got tickets for LOTR tonight, 8pm, because he knew he was getting off work early. He just kept forgetting to tell me until we were on the verge of sleep last night, then.. oh yeah! Coolness.

Well, we break for an hour to deal with work crap. Annoying California Micromanager called me… I take that back, he is much less annoying that he could be, and well, I guess he doesn’t micromanage me so much as the project managers I have to work with. And, well, in this case, he was sticking up for me and the whole implementation team, by composing his own email detailing what happened yesterday and putting some sales folks and account managers in their place. Since I condone that behavior, I was able to sit on the phone, mostly listening to him type instead of talk, for a good long while until he was satisfied he had all the facts straight. He’s not going to let some hothead make us look bad. Cool. Can I get back to work now?

This schedule is killing me. There is just so much shit to do… so much to sort through… so much.. *ARGHEHGHAHE*. It’s hard keeping track of it all. Perhaps I need a better organizational system than just printing everything that seems urgent and dumping it on the pile in front of me. I already tried flagging emails with due dates, but now all I see is a long list of red flagged emails that are overdue in my big “to do” folder.

Well, it is up to me to prioritize my own work. That’s good, I guess. Most signs point to this position holding out for a while. No real layoff threats in a while. Although, I saw a T-shirt at Thinkgeek the other day that said something along the lines of “Go away, or I shall replace you with a very short shell script.” I find that sort of funny since it seems various people have now automated most of the tasks John Henager was responsible for into web menu driven scripts that can be executed by our data department now. Wonder who’s working on the shell script to replace me?

Oh well. Brad cooked something, and the smell has my stomach growling. I think my cheese and crackers breakfast has worn off. Time for a late lunch.
