once? again. and in my own journal

Know what? This is a given. Really. Why does she feel it is necessary to continue to make this announcement, because people are always going to reply to posts with however they feel. That’s pretty much what the “comments” feature of this “live” journal on these “public” posts encourages. Hopefully, especially if someone is on your friends list, then you respect their opinion enough to not take everything they might say as a personal attack. But yet, here we are with the PSA. Again. So, since she requested that disagreeing points of view are better expressed in one’s own personal journal, rather than in the comments of whatever entry they might disagree with, here goes:
Personally, for my two cents, I would like replace “ADD” with “PMS” and ask how she feels about regulating her own level of cramps without any medication. I think that might illustrate that it is all about personal experience. People may ask when she’s being scatterbrained if she has ADD, but my guess is that if it isn’t hindering her life or her ability to function to at least some level noticeable to her, then she probably doesn’t have it or need medication for it. Hence, she arrives at the conclusion that people can will themselves to get over it, perhaps because that’s what Buddhism for Dummies told her she should think. Oh, and… she doesn’t believe in depression? I assume she meant as a medically treatable condition, but you know what happens when you ASSume.
I agree that dealing with ones feelings and not bottling things up makes for a happier healthier immune system and you. However, with more than just the average person being not up to the meditative level of the ability to control every cell of their body, and with “those little bundles of pent up emotion” causing all sorts of havoc in their bodies, I can only wonder whether she believes that medical science might be able to lend a hand then? Or do we think faith healers can cure children of cancer these days?
Readers, don’t be angry with me for expressing my opinion in my own journal…. Instead, feel sad for me, since I’m only acting out because I’m feeling trapped and unhappy in my marriage.
See how silly you can sound when you say everything you think without editing, or perhaps when you only generally touch on a topic and don’t fully explain what you meant to say. People can’t read minds, thus they will sometimes comment in order to draw out more information. Or sometimes, they just don’t find it worth it to know any more about a thing. It was simply a quick expression of an idea you had at the moment, and though it might have been construed by some as…. a rude generalization… more than likely they know you well enough to know that’s probably not what you meant.
Probably.

I can -never- get out anything -exactly- the way I want, which causes a lot of confusion. Even with editing. 🙁 But that’s just me.
I reeeeee-he-he-heeeee-lly commented to say that I wish I could be as honest as you in my journal. I’m always afraid of upsetting people. How DO you do it?

well, if i didn’t care, i wouldn’t try to be honest. i don’t want to upset people, and my BS tolerance is pretty high, but sometimes you just have to say, “Bitch, please!”

Very nicely put. This is what I WISH I had written. Everyone who’s every felt the slightest bit stressed or scatterbrained seems to think they’re prime candidates for ADD medication. This is what has led to the over-diagnosing and the negative stereotypes of the condition, in my opinion at least.
