along the same vein…

For fun, I just pulled up a local realtor’s site to attempt to peruse some house listings to improve my mood. Since I know the URL by heart, I tried RE/MAX Greater Atlanta, even though I know that their main website is now provided by some other company. Might as well check it out, I thought. Well, either I’m internet retarded, or their property search page is the most confusing thing I’ve ever seen. How the heck does anyone find anything on this site?

So according to their rules, I can either 1) click a spot on a map at random, or 2) fill in every single detail of the detailed search, including the subdivision name I want to live in. I guess it’s not a horrible search method if you already know what counties you want to search in, since that seems to be what clicking the map narrows down…

Wonder if I could get away with sending them a complaining email without them saying, “OH, Kim Thornton! Isn’t that the chick that worked for the company we just dumped! We might as well ignore what she has to say.”

Although… we really are in the market for a house and Greater Atlanta was my first choice for a realtor. Maybe I should just talk to somebody… wonder if Mr. Ramsey is still around.

Addendum: Well, what do you know. None of their forms seem to work per the directions. Tried emailing a link to a house to Jim, James and myself and it kept giving me an error about the “to” field. I’d put it in according to their instructions — names seperated by a comma and a space, then it would remove the spaces and error out when I hit submit. Weeeee! Guess I ought to email them.

I would highly recommend using the Coldwell Banker site to search home listings – the one at http://www.coldwellbankeratlanta.com shows ALL MLS listings from any real estate company, and you could always get MLS#s there and then call up Remax and get an agent. Their website is SO SO SO helpful, and none of the others I’ve tried offer any real information at all. (This has nothing to do with the design, just the amount of actual information offered on every property.)

yeah.. I knew the coldwell banker site was good. Greater Atlanta tried to hire their designer to redo their website, but bottom line, we just didnt have access to the same kind of information to display. Sucked. I’m about halfway seriously looking for a house and halfway boosting my ego about the suckiness of their “newfangled” website.
