Episode III cravings Unleashed…

Posted in Crazy Wisdom on Thursday, April 21, 2005 at 1:10 pm by flerly.

All I wanted to do was buy a new fan for the bedroom, so I went to Walmart, where I was confronted with a wide and tempting selection of Star Wars Episode III toys that I had so far avoided. After pushing around well over a $150 worth of carefully selected items, I smacked myself in the forehead and put everything back except two special items.

I really hate collecting “toys” that I’m too old to just play with, so I leave in the packaging, which are then tucked away in a storage box… it seems a waste. Thus, as an adult Star Wars fan, I’m really fond of their Unleashed statue series, which were meant to open and display. I still think my all-time favorite is the Unleashed Darth Maul, but I’m happy to have now added the Unleashed Obi-Wan Kenobi and Unleashed Anakin Skywalker, which connect to recreate the much anticipated final battle.

I was about a heartbeat away from getting the Star Wars saga chess set, too. Perhaps I’d best avoid Walmart for a while. The figurines were, of course, opened and assembled prior to me taking the time to post this. Now, I’ll actually open that fan and hook it up. Must have priorities. =)

This totally has nothing to do with your post, but I know you mentioned you were looking for an LCD and I don’t have your email or any screennames for you so I’ll just post it here:

Dell Home has the Dell UltraSharp 2005FPW 20.1-inch Flat Panel LCD Monitor with Height Adjustable Stand for $749 – 40% off code 9LRWGD0NFZD9B? [Exp 4/27, 5:59am CDT] – $65 off $500 code BPTQ95NDT9020R [Exp 4/27, 5:59am CDT] = $384 shipped

This is the lowest I’ve seen the price come down to. This is the widescreen version.

Damn that’s a sweet deal. It’s telling me that first 40% coupon is expired now, and there’s some sale on it now, where I get $486.85 shipped. =\

Yeah my roommate told me a couple of hours ago that they took the 40% off. 🙁 I think there is a 35% coupon out for it though. But yeah it was a sweet deal.

Ok, I have the unleashed Obi-Wan, Vader, Mace Windu, and Dooku. In addition to that I have about 120 Simpsons, 20 Todd McFarlane Movie Maniacs, 20+ Lord of the Rings, Popeye, Muppets, X-Files, Monsters Inc, Matrix, other Star Wars, Masters of the Universe, Marvel Legends, Spider Man, Batman, etc. toys that are in mint or near mint boxes. I’d say I have 200+ “toys” laying around the house unopened right now. I’m a collector, but haven’t really bought anything recently. I need to get back into the habbit. :).

    I knew I liked you. =)

More than anything, sometimes, I just want to open all those boxes and play with the toys. Ever get that feeling?

Well, I tried to just collect Star Wars figurines and books, so I have a couple storage boxes of those. I had to open the unleashed ones, so I have the three of those.. yesterday’s purchases and Darth Maul, plus one STAP droid. Somehow, though, I apparently also collect “ORC”, as in other random crap. I have a Zerg from Starcraft, a little stuffed Mike from Monster’s inc, Mojo Jojo and Bubbles from the Powerpuff Girls, a random assortment of strange little teddy bears, two model Corvettes and random Hawaii stuff (including a couple of dashboard hula girls, coral, shells, sand and sea water in bottles, and a plastic humahumanukanukaapua’a fish among other crap). OH yeah… and I just got my stuffed Mechazawa from Cromartie High School, and I also apparently collect exercise equipment. =)

oh.. and plastic puppet-animals on a stick. Maggie can tell regale you with tales of spending her Dave & Buster tickets on them for me, and JamesT can tell you tales of running in fear as I do weird voices and make him have conversations with them. I have a shark, a replacement shark, a flamingo, a dolphin, a frankenstein head, a zebra, and a huge camel head (from Vegas). The camel head used to enjoy having conversations with my King Tut teddy bear from Vegas, but I’ve cut back on the drinking since then.
