Public Service Announcement

For those of you who have not seen us in a while, I just wanted to inform you all that we are pretty much the same. We continue to be overworked, underplayed, in severe need of laundry and haircuts, unsure as to whether we’re supposed to be somewhere any given weekend, with random dishes piled in the sink representing the same four varieties of Hamburger Helper which we live on, trash piled with pizza boxes and Chinese takeout, a litter box emitting the same foul-odor that causes people to take the long way around to avoid it rather than actually go in and change it, and the same lazy cats with their collections of dead moths lying around the house. Our rut is well-worn, deep, and difficult to escape, were we to even try. Same house, same cars, new mail laying all over the kitchen table, but the spread pattern is the familiar old one. Our priorities at home are the same, with a decently stocked bar and fresh batteries for the remote controls. Somehow, any invitation to do something out of the ordinary can feel more like a break in a familiar routine and causes much more fuss than it should when we look back upon the time we didn’t get to spend watching John Stewart with our feet up on the ottoman, yet when left to our own devices with no plans or commitments for a weekend, it seems to go by in a blur, with much of the time unaccounted for. We can’t win for losing, and can’t win if we don’t play, and all those other cliches that are the norm. Still haven’t been to Ikea. Still haven’t dropped the dough on my dishes. Still haven’t finished my name change process, so I can apply for my passport. Basically, it’s business as usual, with perhaps a slightly deeper layer of dust on some things. So, if you haven’t seen us in a while, fear not. We’re just as dull as you remember us. =)

man, you are singing our tune. the misses and i were in the same boat. the first few days at getting out of the rut was somewhat unpleasent but i can tell things are getting better. i think that one of the missing links is the friendship that exisist outside of the house. we need to hang with ALL of our friends. once we get that on lockdown it’ll be all downhill (uphill) from there.
hang in there.
ok, so i was going to post a cliche’ picture of a cat hanging from something with the quote beside it, so i went to google and did my usual search…well i came across the exact picture that i’ve been looking for for one of my work projects (2 days of searching various terms and i never found it…until now). AND i found a site with some REALLY cool furniture, accessories, and things: http://designsponge.blogspot.com/
so thank you for posting, leading me to reply and helping me find what i was looking for!

Want something to break the rut? Plan to go to Iceland with Bruce, Jane, and I upon my return next June. Failing that, do some searches for international jobs and go work in Cambodia or Germany for a couple of years. Maybe go enroll in school again? Learn a new hobby? Oh, I know! Go buy me some clothes since I didn’t bring enough and am being forced to wear thongs and socks made from lizards that I killed and skinned with my bare hands. <3 Godzilla
