Well, I’ve spoiled it for myself to no ends, but… it’s going to be SO good anyway.
Nathan Fillion on his role as Capt. Malcomb Reynolds and the making of Serenity:
When I first got the job, well, even before I auditioned, when I was just in a meeting with Joss Whedon, I said, “I love this character, I think he’s great. I think this is a really cool character. It’s not me. This is totally not me. This guy’s so hard and so empty and so callous, so sharp, that… I mean, I’m happy. My life has been really easy. I’m a happy guy! I’m not tortured. I haven’t lived through terrible life experiences that bring me to these tough decisions.” But, what I enjoy about playing him, what I have come to discover about him, or come to feel about him, is that, empty as he is, and as hard as he is, Mal desperately clings to and protects what makes him whole. Which is the ship and everyone in it.
I remember when Joss called me, back when he’d just written the movie. He said, “I’m done, I’m done, I finished.” I said, “Read me the first line and read me the last line.” He goes, “Okay, the first line is, ‘Earth-That-Was.’ And the last line is, ‘Wow, sure was weird the way Mal died in the first act.'”
— from Serenity, The Official Visual Companion, which just happens to contain the full shooting script of the movie… which I couldn’t help but read. It is impossible to discuss without spoiling everything, but let me just say… whoa. This is going to be a memorable movie. So. Good.
Is it September 30 yet?

A few more days and #3 will be in my hands, bwuahahaha!! I cannot wait until the 30th. Gah, I need to find a geek/nerd/dork. So sad that I don’t know anyone around here that’s into Firefly like I am. Poo.
