meager update

Tonight I tried what I believe was Erin’s advice of having curry to help cure my cold. So far so good, considering it was the only curry dish available at PF Changs, where we were having our very low-key, quiet and reposed dinner somewhat in honor of Mr. TheMad’s 30th. Is it ironic to put a 4-cent candle in a million-dollar cake? If soy sauce is your salt, why won’t it keep the glasses from sticking to the napkins?

Anywho… happy to report our feline friends have apparently “matured” beyond the climbing the Christmas tree phase. Cousin Jennie, however, reports that their kitten climbed and broke their tree — much like Kitty did ours last time I put one up. Whee! She reports that she had to put Sully in the “cat house” which I’m sure was her cute play on being in the “dog house,” but which, of course, led me to wonder whether she’s whoring the kitten out to pay for a new Christmas tree. Some people don’t get my humor.

I’m making my Christmas list and checking it three to seven times, depending on how bored I am, and how much I want the money in my bank account to stretch. My goal this year was to get about 90% of what I needed online, which means I have to get going on it. It’s a bad time of year to be thinking about Christmas shopping online, especially when I actually have a huge pile of work to be done by then. Massive. So much that yesterday they called me a “bottleneck” and asked me to train someone in customer service to help me. What, me worry?
