Just some tv fyi, and to cheer me up

I’ve already given up on Prison Break, which I really did want to like. After Wednesday, I think I’m about to give up on Jericho. I’ve lost my taste for these sort of programs. Can Heroes be far behind?

In the meantime, when I popped by the BBC website to check on when more Doctor Who might be airing, I came across some info about the spinoff Torchwood, currently only aired in the UK. You can’t even really learn about it from the BBC site, other than it’s existence. The wiki had more, of course.

So I pulled the entire first season and watched it… loved it. The difference in time slot is certainly reflected by it’s much more mature content than Doctor Who has achieved, but beyond that, I just really enjoyed the characters, the world, the plots, the overarching storyline AND the ability to tell a story start to finish in an episode.

I haven’t heard word about broadcast dates for the U.S., but if you can find it… I recommend it.

OH! And if you hear the names “Dirk Benedict” and “Stephen Baldwin” in the same preview for a Sci-Fi Original Movie, resist the urge to run screaming. It scares the cats.

Despite their frightening original movies, I am enjoying their new series, The Dresden Files so far.

Thanks to ‘s parents and their skill and internet acquisitions, I’m totally addicted to Torchwood now!…and I have to admit, I like the new Dr. Who too… though I doubt I’ll ever be a big fan of the old series…

I’m worried about Torchwood coming to the states though… are they going to edit it for the american audience? Or do They think we can handle the topics like mature viewers?

It seems somewhere in that Wiki I read it mentioned that the BBC may do their own edit of the show so they can rerun it in a different timeslot and channel. IF the sci-fi channel picks it up, too, I could see them airing the original version as a late night show. They’ve run some interesting content late night…
