The (hopefully) short update

1) The house buying process is cranking along. No deal-breaking surprises from the Home Inspector. We’ve taken over 100 photos of the place and measurements to help us plan things. The whole process could probably been finished by the end of this month if we didn’t have another month left of our lease. As is, we get to plan and stew and wait however impatiently until June 27th. Then we get to whirlwind some updates, painting, (and hopefully furniture delivery) before we drop the small fortune on moving.

2) Work is making my head spin. Designing some of the big “for print” items I’ve had to do lately are reminding me how bogged down my computer can get. Things are moving at a snail’s pace when Photoshop is open, and I’m trying to not get frustrated, which results in a lot of time spent on the other pc with meaningless web browsing while I wait for things on the work pc to save, or the screen to redraw, or huge emails to send, etc. I’m doing a horrible job tracking items for customer service, and now as of today I’ve jumped in on yet another outside project which should provide some much needed additional dough by the end of next month. Now I just have to figure out how to get on top of this pile, ASAP. Some deadlines have already whooshed by.

3) Tonight is Godsmack with Marc & Jennie, who thankfully need to drive home after instead of stay, since… big surpise… some bad four-legged furry friend decided to piss all over the futon pillows and mattress again while we were gone last weekend. The frame has already broken on it, and now another mattress investment is pretty much stained for life. I think we’re going to ditch the thing in this move.

4) With potential new furniture in the future, JamesT reminded me again about declawing the cats. I don’t think Brad has worked out where he is going when we move, but the thought has occurred to us both that he might want to take Motley to live with him. I’m not trying to give her away, but she seems to have picked him as her favorite and he’s fond of her, so we wouldn’t be opposed if that’s what he wanted. If that is the case, then it would just be the one evil Kitty that would be looking at being declawed, especially since she never took to nail trimming by us. Kit knows how much that cat loves the vet, so we may need an advance dose of kitty-prosac just to get her there.

5) The only other future complication is the fact that Bellsouth/AT&T reports that we cannot get DSL at the new house because “the neighborhood is saturated” or some such. Having internet set up ASAP would be a requirement for my work, so JamesT is shopping other options… and we’re kicking around going to Comcast for the full package — cable, 8 meg internet, and home phones. Fun fun fun… I always wanted another new email address. Perhaps 7 years of Bellsouth is a new record, though.

6) I have a nervous breakdown scheduled for next Tuesday, or perhaps Monday night, pending whether they actually need me to show up for that Jury Duty gig. Potential serious messing with timetables for work. C’est la vie.
