Well, this is still awkward…
Two computers were just not meant to fit well with this desk. The heat of them is stifling in this room, and without a return, this just won’t work at all. Right now, the return is disconnected, pending us possibly cutting it off by about a foot and figuring out how to reattach it. In the meantime… awkward. Can’t really unpack too much office stuff until this return bit is hammered out, since I use the bookcase end of it for a lot of items.
Today has already been busy, though. A week off work leaves much to be done. I should be thankful. I alluded to it earlier, but FYI, my end of month paycheck from June, which was mailed early enough to make it to the old address before we moved, never appeared in our mailbox. When I reported it missing last Monday, we found out that it had apparently been taken to the bank by a “lucky” neighbor, who so cleverly forged a name…. His first and last name, and threw a “Thornton” on the end of it… and cashed it. My paychecks are made out to my full name and address, but we’re thinking the “lucky” neighbor had the same address, give or take a letter at the end of the apartment number, and an unsuspecting bank might not have caught that. Jackie at work has already filed a fraud claim and a police report. Exciting stuff. I only wish I knew where the neighbor with that name actually resides. I’d love to knock on the asshole’s door when I go to turn the keys in tomorrow. Perhaps I’ll tell the office the story and see if they’ll let me know which apartment.
We are officially moved now. Getting all the little stuff out required many trips over there with the car, which all sucked. Shit is now piled everywhere, packed randomly, throughout the garage. Furniture has to get through there on Wednesday, and countertops soon, so I know we need to do some rearranging to at least clear a path. Ugh.
For the record, shopping at Rooms to Go is easy, but shopping at Ikea sucks ass. Ikea, especially on a weekend, is the closest thing to hell on Earth I’ve experienced in a while. Their web based “in-stock” check is crap, as twice we’ve gone down there for things that were, in fact, not in stock. Lucky for us, everything we want you can actually purchase off the website… for $150 shipping. Insanity.
We’re probably looking at August 18th for a housewarming party, so “save the date” if you can. That is all.

Just an FYI, That is also the date that Kaundra is tentatively set for her and Jen’s housewarming also.
