Is it 5 o’clock yet? Where’s my bar? In fact, where’s my countertops?

Well, thanks to the world’s grumpiest delivery guy, who tried to weasel $30 cash out of me for having to use his lift gate to get my dining table off his truck, I now have a dining room table inches inside the garage door. They just pay me to get it in the door, now. Just in the door.

Fine. Whatever. It’s an independent freight delivery service hired by Overstock, who apparently doesn’t care if he has to use his equipment in the course of making a freight delivery. Wow. Now tell me when an item that has to be shipped freight won’t require your dolly or lift gate and then maybe you can tell me why that cost isn’t included in the original price. Certainly nothing that was still on that truck counts. Hope all those people paid the little extra for him to actually take things on and off the truck and not just drive it to their location, 3 1/2 hours after he said he’d be here.

Also… no answer from the Lowe’s install department, so I sent them a fax… since I couldn’t leave the house to go down there while waiting on the delivery guy. My patient two weeks waiting for a call ended last Friday. I’m ready for countertops so we can finish unpacking the kitchen.

RoomsToGo’s automated message called two more times today, so I’m pretty sure we’re on for another furniture delivery tomorrow. Fairly sure. Hope they don’t want extra money for doing their job. Seriously, I might have tipped the guy if he hadn’t started his I don’t get paid enough for this shit tirade the moment he stepped out of the truck.

This room, complete with shorter reattached desk return, is really starting to look like an office.

Tomorrow, company from Alabama to install our alarm system. So, if you want any of our shit, come tonight or you’re SOL. There’s a nice heavy dining room table on a pallet just inside the garage door if you want it. Just don’t complain if you have to use a lift gate to get it on your truck.

    Where’s your martini?!?!

Talk about stressful – crazed delivery guys, moving, stolen paychecks… it’s like a sitcom!
I have had that problem with delivery guys dropping stuff off at the door or near the door b/c anything else is NOT in their job descriptions – coincidentally, they all worked for Yellow Freight or Yellow Truck.

Hope you can get relaxed and completely settled soon!

Where is the Wii installed? We’ll come help you make space for that table by removing that pesky, space-eating gaming device.
