Quickie —
Well, my car is parked inside the garage again. AND I just helped a nice man load up our extra washer and dryer, which are now off to co-worker’s friend’s kids at college who needed them. Happy to send them off where they’re needed, but happier to have the space in the garage, too. There is actually room for JT’s car in the garage now, too.
The contract work with Camper seems to have dried up without so much as a word. I have no idea what their status is as a company, but assume I would have heard if things had turned south. More likely they just got a more reliable resource than myself and failed to let me know. No worries. Too much headache there.
Meanwhile my actual job is keeping me mucho busy. I’ve had to give up one work-at-home day a week for an in-the-office day, on top of whatever appointments or travel we might have happening. It’s a drive, but they don’t expect me until 10, so it’s not terrible. Getting home is the worse. Just over 70 miles round trip up there. Heck, it’s closer than visiting Ben & Maggie! (miss you guys!)
Last weekend’s “trial run” at showing our house to the family went really well, actually. I learned I’m not sure how to react when people start gushing about how much they like it. Mom was making me want to tear up, she was going on so much. She said something to the effect of, now that you have this house, I would understand why you’d never want to visit me. I don’t want to leave it either. Of course, she did leave, and she isn’t coming back for the actual housewarming this weekend.
Tried to get a head-start on some shopping needs over lunch today and headed to a Kroger, where I found out they wouldn’t authorize my check card as debit. Tried it twice, then had to run it as credit. Didn’t say “not communicating” or anything, like their debit service was out. Actually said “not authorized”. I’ve had it happen before where I carelessly put my PIN in wrong, but on the 2nd run, I typed it carefully. Bizarre, says I.
Also, I think I post previously about our Citicard mystery, where they had “locked down” my online banking and said they couldn’t disclose how, but that my account might have been compromised — oh, but I can still use the actual card. Well, they closed that account and sent me new cards — hurray — and with the cards came some additional info about the customer databases for shoppers at TJMax, Homegoods, and other affiliates being compromised, and this closing only affected people with a charge on record from any of those stores. This is weird to me, since I’m pretty sure I’ve shopped at TJMax with other credit cards than this one, and no one else did this crazy account lock down. Does this mean my other cards are slackers?
Anyway… sis and hubby will be here tomorrow evening to hang out for the weekend, and I can’t tell you how much I’m looking forward to seeing them! Wish they were staying with us, but they got a good deal at a nearby hotel with their biker organization. JT’s family will be down for lunch on Saturday, so we’ll have quite the gang in town during the day. Then hopefully we’ll see some other folks for the “party proper” in the evening. JT and I are playing the heck out of Guitar Hero so we can hopefully restrain ourselves from just taking it over and playing that all night while we have guests.
Right now, I think I’m walking away from this computer to make some meatloaf for dinner. Don’t know why I feel like such a weirdo when I get a craving for meatloaf, but I do. And it’s not so much the dinner I want, I’m actually craving the meatloaf sandwiches I’ll be having for lunch tomorrow. Mmmmmm.
Oh, and in case I didn’t mention it… Kitty is like a new cat. Simply the sweetest, most personable cat you’ve ever hung out with. Wants to be held and pet, has gotten to be talkative to get attention, and seems to just be SO happy. I miss the Motley, but I’m so glad separating the cats seems to have really been good for Kitty.

You guys can bring anything you want, but nothing is required. We have planned to make guacamole, spinach dip & artichoke dip, we have hummus, laughing cow cheese, and garlic cheese spread, carrots & ranch dressing, peanuts, cashews and just for some “dinner-ish” stuff for us, we’ll have buffalo boneless chicken wings around. Oh, and there are cupcakes and chocolate chip cookies for dessert. And, of course, with my sis here all day, who knows what else she’ll talk me into making! But, you know me — I won’t turn you away if you turn up with anything!

OH, and FYI… since your trip is long … no one has claimed our guest room for the night. The only family staying the night are my sis and brother-in-law and they ahve a hotel room. If you guys want to pack for overnight, so you can both drink, feel free!

you know us, we’ll both drink anyway, and then one of us will force the other to sober up for the drive. we (and by ‘we’ i mean ‘i’) always feel too guilty about leaving chester outside (or inside) all night long to actually stay the night. except for that one time. aaaaand then i threw up, so…yeah.
π thanks for the offer! we’ll discuss it and decide what foodstuffs to bring and let you guys know!

You know, I’ve taken some, but they’re crap and I haven’t put them anyplace. Mr T’s working from home tomorrow, so I’ll ask him to take and post some!

yeah, i’ve started to feel bad about leaving chestnuts outside as well. he just has this look on his face. plus it’s so darned hot and dry and nasty that we’d just assume be home with them. that and i can drink the night away and maggie will gladly drive me home.
i’m SO looking forward to this. it’s gonna rock…z0r. oh, and we’ll be bringing something. if we didn’t, you wouldn’t even recognize us.
see ya tomorrow! π
