We are well and truly geeked

Posted in Crazy Wisdom on Monday, September 17, 2007 at 1:12 am by flerly.

The weekend was somehow fun, relaxing and productive all together.

First, it was decidedly tough to make it Dale’s birthday drinks for Friday night, but we did manage. We took in tiki drinks for two hours, though it did seem like we left just as everyone else showed up. Sorry about that, but after Mr. T’s sickly week and my work, we were both just wiped out.

Saturday morning’s walk was fun, with a not-hungover-but-rather-still-drunk Kit and (I hope I can say “our” new friend) . Last week’s first meeting we were on our best behavior, but in light of Kit being drunk, this week, we laughed and aired our dirty laundry. She took it well, so she’s totally in. Christina, you must meet more of our friends.

For the rest of Saturday I was so wonderfully lazy it was almost inconceivable: napping, crappy tv shows… wonderful. Made better by a really late night cruise to the Sonic because if you’ve sat on your ass all day, you clearly deserve dessert.

Sunday, 3:10 to Yuma was a wonderful western. Loved it. Made me want to come home and rewatch so many other movies and talk everyone into playing a game set in the wild-west. Instead, we bought food, came home, fixed a gajillion little aluminum foil packets of food stuffs and turned James loose on the grill while people wandered over to eat and flesh out characters for Spycraft.

I think we got some very interesting personas lined up to play. I just hope we can all play nice together… no one leaving gag pinecones anyplace that our “irrational fear of pinecones” girl will find them or anything. I may take the liberty of spending some points for people on backgrounds suitable things based on the character as we talked it out. The more I get done before next Sunday, probably the better. Happy that Sunday afternoons, 4pm, seem to be a suitable time for all involved. It is a lot of people to coordinate, and of course, once we get a couple of sessions under our belt, it will be easier to for me to play character of people who need to be absent but still want to help with the game for some sessions. We’ll figure all that out.

I hope that most everyone figured out that I’m really not a stick-to-the-rules, dice-fiend kind of game controller. If you can roleplay true to your character, you shouldn’t have to worry about a lot of dice rolling. Sure we sit around the table with a bunch of books and charts to make characters, but when we play, I hope we won’t have to crack a book, just have fun.

Anywho, my brain is done for the day. Time for bed.

I’m jealous. Sounds like you had a lazy day. I wish I could say the same. I had a good weekend, will write about it soon, but it was not lazy! Hope your LARP will be lots of fun! 🙂
