a recap

The trip to Snowshoe went as well as could be expected, and all survived the slopes without any injuries. We were out there every day except one, where some overnight rain managed to mess up the snow for the morning, so we took the day off. The weather was wonderfully wintry, with cold gusty wind and lots of snow. Spending the day playing in snow then the evening in an outdoor hot-tub was very nice. Being the only person to sign up for a week-day group snowboarding $50 class and ending up with 2-hours with a private instructor was also very nice.
The post-trip surprise party for Jennie also went off brilliantly last night. She was so shocked when the lights came on and we were all there and the house was decorated… she said for a moment she was scared because it was like when she woke up from surgery once and all her friends and family were there because they were worried. She said she flashed for a second that she’d been in some horrible accident that she didn’t remember. Then she realized what it actually was and she cried for a while as she hugged everyone who had driven all the way to Greenville just to eat cake and play rock band with her.
From the emails, this week of work is going to be hectic, though I start tomorrow off with a scheduled doc visit. Whoo hoo. I did manage to land enough times on my right arm and shoulder for it to still be pretty sore, and I can already feel how uncomfortable it is to be at this desk again.
It’s a little late for a new years resolution, but I need to make a couple. 1) Stretch more and 2) Just move more… during the day. If I have to set an egg timer to remind me to just GET UP at least once every hour from this desk, then damnit, I’ll do it.

We have some. It was actually way too cold for his camera most days. I’m sure he’ll be putting them up someplace soon.
