some summer movie thoughts
Since our vacation week, we’ve really been playing catch-up on some summer movies — and of course, since we discovered Movie Tavern. In the past two weeks we’ve sat through Get Smart, Wall-E, Wanted, and Hancock, with The Happening, The Strangers*, Sex and the City**, Chronicles of Narnia, Speed Racer, Iron Man and Indianna Jones already under our belt. That just seems like a ton of movies for us to actually GO OUT and see, as we are notorious wait for DVD people.
But, as luck would have it, it seems even more are in our future, as we finally made a 2nd-choice decision of where to go see the midnight premiere of The Dark Knight tomorrow, with all 1st-choice IMAX shows sold out through Monday. Then, of course, we’ll have to figure out when to make the run for the IMAX show, because this one just can’t be missed — so it is REALLY sort of weird to me to be looking forward to seeing this once twice.
As someone who is still waiting to make time to watch so much stuff from last year and earlier this year that we were just too busy/lazy/didn’t care to go see at the movies, it is just strange to me to be so caught up on what is currently out there. Next thing you know we’ll be at Mamma Mia.
Oh, and also, in my infinite lameness, I managed to sit down with the Hellboy Director’s Cut to watch with JamesT last week, as his first viewing of Hellboy, and have to say, he wasn’t too impressed. It’s only about 20 minutes longer, but it must be in all the wrong places, making it really seem too laggy and slow even to me, who LOVED that flick. Thus, all attempts to get him to Hellboy 2 have failed. Boo.
* The Strangers was not our choice of flick, and we really hated it.
** Sex and the City did not include the half of The Thron-tons who has testicles.

Where are you guys going tomorrow night for The Dark Knight? Got room for more?
Also, if you want to see Hellboy II I’ll go! I’ve been trying to find someone to go with. I support the ‘lets see more movies’ cause!

I enjoyed hellboy 2.
Expect to see at least a dozen people dressed as “Prince Nuada” at Dragon*con this year.

*ahem* Hellboy 2 was perfect, I think. It’s shorter, faster, and funnier. with more action. So I recommend it, if my opinion matters much.
