Bootcamp Day 3
No official meeting today, so it’s a homework day. Set my 2nd alarm for 6am, figuring I could keep up the morning trend and do my homework in the morning, but completely bombed. My abs are so sore, rolling over to stop the alarm hurt. It was probably a poor decision, but I turned off my alarm and went back to sleep to get up with JT at 7:30.
That means this afternoon will be homework time, so I’ll update later. Meanwhile, I’m still trying to figure out how to move well enough to slather my Tiger Balm everywhere it hurts.
Have to say, past couple nights of trying to sleep with a stuffed up head and get up to workout have been trying in themselves, and I do feel much better rested after sleeping in a bit today. Maybe it was good for me.
Update 8:30PM: Stressful day of work, but came home to do homework. Today’s was 100 crunches and 25 pushups. Check and check. Ouch and yowza. You know how you’re supposed to go through your daily life with your abs held in, but you really only do it when you think of it. Today, I thought of it, tensed my lower abs… and was rewarded with a vicious muscle cramp. Can’t say as I’ve ever strained those muscles enough to cramp before. Tomorrow morning will be painful.
The forecast: 6am, Clear and 47 degrees. Woohoo.
With tonight’s sushi, I got the fortune: What does not destroy you makes you stronger.
Bootcampers:
Take a moment to think about how you live your life every day. Most of us operate within our comfort zone. We do things we know we can do well, not taking risks, playing it safe.
What is your comfort zone? Most benefits and gains you get from most anything you do results from moving out of your CZ. Examples may be standing up for yourself at work, trying new experiences, doing something your are afraid of, making a life change.
Fear of failure or pain (physical or mental) limits us in so many ways. Make the decision to have confidence in yourself, and to do whatever it takes to reach your goals. If it is too hard, DO IT ANYWAY! The pride and excitement of reaching goals far outweighs the pain you experienced reaching those goals.
ATTITUDE by Charles Swindoll
“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.
Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think, say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company… a church… a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we embrace for that day. We cannot change our past… we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play the one string we have, and that is our attitude… I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you… we are in charge of our Attitudes”.
