Real Life Strikes Again
Got this in an e-mail today:
Realistically, we all find ourselves in situations where we are not fully capable of eating as well as we feel we should. Whether it’s because we’re visiting friends or we are going on vacation, we often don’t have the luxury to plan our meals and prepare them the way we would at home.
In situations like these, you have to plan as good as you can, hold onto your seat, and just do your best. It is possible that you will fail to eat very well – but you might also end up burning more energy as you are exploring your new destination. One way or another, don’t sweat it too much; sometimes you just have to do what you have to do.
It is very important to remember that a day off, or even a week off, will not entirely destroy your diet, so long as you’re willing to hop back on the wagon as quickly as you can.
Well, we can certainly call this a week off, and I’ll tell you what I’ve learned. Been feeling so blah this week, sickly, so tired, constant headache that allergy pills and Excedrin Sinus couldn’t tackle. Last night with the girls after one margarita I started feeling so woozy, and tried to suck down a ton of water after. The drive home was *fun*, as seriously I was feeling so groggy, like I’d had a pitcher to myself rather than a drink. Dizzy, nauseous, headachy, tired… and it hits me: I’ve been a total water slacker this week. Barely drank any throughout the day, as I’ve been almost too busy to remember to eat this week between work and the house hunt. And I’ve felt this way before… years ago… dehydration. It’s no wonder a few sips of alcohol had me feeling so bad.
Drank a ton of water all night, still going this morning, and I’m already feeling loads better. I guess one cannot go from the intense water intake I was on to practically nothing and expect to not feel any effect. Probably came on so fast because I’d just retrained my body that I would be intaking a lot, so no need to retain much. Ha ha! Jokes on you, body!
I mean, jokes on me. This weekend is mom’s. Monday, if I get back to it in earnest, will make for an acceptable week off the routine, and a valuable hydration lesson learned.
