umkay now — pay attention

This has so far been the biggest waste of a Saturday….

Way back when DragonCon was around, and I was waxing all philosophical about intended audiences and how things you write in your journal can come back to haunt you, never in my wildest dreams did I imagine a Saturday morning phone call from my mother to discuss my livejournal.

She hasn’t been reading it, but she tells me that this past week she has gotten numerous phone calls from my sister who is worried about me, based on things she’s read in my journal. Especially some things she has apparently read pertaining to my recent visit to her house and a resulting discussion I had with my mother about it.

Well, I told my mom what I’ve said many times before, rarely if ever will something appear in my journal that I would not want people to hear about. I’m really not embarrassed by anything I’ve said or posted. I post in anger, I post in depression, I post drunk, for chrissakes, and I can only hope the material is taken in the context it was written, but well, I can’t guarantee that.

But I can live with that.

Your sister loves you very much, and she just kept telling me that from what she reads in that awful journal that she just expects to get a phone call anytime that something terrible has happened to you in that awful place…

Did you broadcast to the internet that you don’t visit me just because your sister told you that you should? Do you broadcast things I’ve said? What do you say about me?

Mom, it’s public. Go read it if you care. Otherwise you and sis both just back off. If you want to know what’s going on in my life, ask me sometime instead of laying on the “why don’t you just move home” guilt trips when we speak.

Anyway.. THIS was a rant, for the audience we shall call “friends”. Don’t be upset that there’s a public repeat of an edited version cooked up just for prying eyes.
