When does it stop?

Posted in Crazy Wisdom on Monday, October 28, 2002 at 10:19 am by flerly.

Today, I’m in costume early…. I am Zit-Woman, defender of greasy food everywhere… or something. My alter-ego is mild mannered Snot-Girl, whose danger-sense takes the form of a single nostril that will run on either the left or right, pointing me toward evil…. Right now it’s the left one going to town on this box of tissues, perhaps it’s alerting me to the Skittles…

oh save me…. i’m non compos mentis…

Well, I must say, other than the inability to get evil zits to go away (should have tried Windex, maybe), I had a lovely birthday. Probably the best one in a while…

I know I already wrote about ‘s fabulous morning suprise… I also got the sweetest cards from and his kitty.. and the sweetest Aloha gifts from Stacy. That hula girl was the perfect addition to my desk, chica! Talked to mom, got an ecard from sis… Watched a few cool old Xena episodes, bought myself a book I wanted, spent my gift certificate from the tropicalfrewnut on a needed pair of dress pants, and ate a tasty meal at Carrabas where I was sang to in Italian… At what time is breakfast?…A che il tempo e la colazione?…At what time is breakfast?…A che il tempo e la colazione?… Finished the night off with the new ep of Angel, some adult swim, then falling asleep next to JamesT by the flickering of candlight and to the sounds of Massive Attack… was very nice.

Well, then… get to work, find I’ve gotten both the aforementioned super-hero identity and no makeup strong enough to cover it and the alter-ego that is rapidly going through this box of tissues. And now I have what starts out a pleasant conversation with my tropicalfrewtnut niece, and find out that she is the bearer of bad news… seems my step-sister Donna’s mother had a heart attack yesterday and died unexpectedly at home. Apparently she cooked dinner for the family last night, then went to bed saying she didn’t feel well. In the morning she complained her stomach was still hurting, then later when her daughter went to look in on her, she found she had passed. I understand Donna is taking it pretty hard, and I totally understand it. I can’t say that a lenthy illness that leads to death is an easy thing to take, but I can see that it would be easier than a sudden death, where you are hit totally unprepared and might feel like there was no time to say goodbye.

Anyway… Jason’s FINALLY here. Perhaps now my permisisons crap will be fixed and I can get some shit done.

I had the Mezzaluna – delicate half moon ravioli stuffed with chicken, ricotta and spinach in a tomato cream sauce…

JamesT had the Filet Fiorentina – 9 oz. tenderloin perfectly seasoned, served with vegetables and garlic mashed or roasted rosemary potatoes…

Magoo had the Eggplant Parmesan – Fresh eggplant layered with mozzarella and romano cheese, baked with basil and pomodoro sauce, served with rigatoni pomodoro…

and Stacy had your recommendation, the Pollo Rosa Maria – Fire-roasted chicken breast stuffed with fontina cheese, prosciutto and topped with mushroom basil butter sauce.

We started off with their appetizer platter, too.. and they gave me a free piece Dessert Rosa – Delicious butter cake topped with pastry cream, bananas, strawberries, pineapple and whipped cream…

Suffice it to say we went home very fat and very happy. =)
