This morning is definitely going better…
How pleasant it is to have everyone who could possibly be “in charge” all out of town at the same time. Funny thing is they aren’t all together, so various people will call in asking for who they think might be in charge, the phone call gets announced over the loudspeaker by the receptionist, and whoever feels like it just picks up the phone and tells the caller that nobody is here.
It frequently gets more exaggerated than that by the person telling the caller that not only is nobody officially in charge, but also that either total chaos has broken out because the employees have no one to crack the whip and keep them in line, or that they sent all non-essential personnel home or something. I overheard Patrick telling the company president, “Not to worry. Most of our customers have cancelled on us but we’re keeping busy filling out bankruptcy forms.” Patrick is a cut-up. He came over to me today to ask me where on the schedule something he needed was, but what he said was, “So, do you think you’ll have every revision we need for every customer online by the end of the day today?” I’m like, “Actually, I was planning on doing at least three revisions to every customer’s site today just for the practice.” Somewhere, somehow, something seems to have clicked in Ms. Stein’s brain and suddenly, after three very lengthy explanatory emails to her, she has FINALLY figured out her first account and what she needs to actually get from the customer to make it work. I’m so pleased. She actually thanked me for being patient with her. Well, besides being very pleased that I’m getting a new pc this weekend, I’ve also gotten to have a little sci-fi related literary conversation, including recommending a book or two, and the mood is generally smooooooth. Must be all that sleep I got. Oh well.. is it Thursday? Cool. It’s almost time for cheese. I’m so looking forward to it. I’m also craving some sushi today, so I think i’ll try to talk the engineers into going for lunch. Got my new tennis shoes, some slick new sweat pants, and a nice gym bag last night, too, so I’m ready to hit the gym in new style. Also got some ski-pants and gloves for the trip. w00t w00t! One week until snowboarding!! Bring on the snow! |

Hahahahahhahahahah… showoff.
I fell asleep at 11 and slept until 7:30… what’s that 8 1/2 hours? that brings me up to 11 1/2 hours for two days!!
Exhaustion will do that to ya.
I think the trick for me is I need white noise. It’s been too quiet to sleep. I hear ticking clocks. I swear I can even hear JT downstairs playing Counterstrike if I’m trying to sleep.

hmm. perhaps we should trade rooms to fall asleep in, and switch back once the bois decide to come to bed at 5:00 AM.
see, for me to be able to think about falling asleep, i need to hear the quiet whirring of a fan and no more, else i get distracted. i don’t know the meaning of “too quiet”. i must hear no sounds of counterstrike thru someone else’s headphones, no sounds of a mouse banging on the desk, no sounds of frantic typing because he can’t shout in his little microphone because i’m “asleep”, no snoring two minutes after his head hits the pillow, which just makes me jealous that he can fall asleep so quickly and effortlessly, and then makes me angry that i’m still awake, through all of it, when i went to bed a good three hours before he did.
in an attempt to muffle the “more-red-than-white noise”, i tried the old pillow over the ear trick, in addition to the eye-thing to block out the light. i woke up 45 minutes later, sweating and suffocating, and wide-ass awake. :/ and then again an hour and a half later. and then, an hour and a half after that, the alarm started going off. an hour after that, i got up. and thus, you see me, not even half-ready with sopping wet hair, frantically throwing my pants in the iron when you’re walking out the door to work.
i think my broken 5 hours for last night brings my two-day total up to…a whopping broken 9.5. :/
