tasty treats for disgruntled visitors…

Posted in Crazy Wisdom on Tuesday, January 28, 2003 at 2:20 pm by flerly.

A number of visitors might come to your house today, dear Scorpio, perhaps to discuss matters of interest to all of you. Some intense disagreements could arise, but you’ll be able to keep it all together. An intellect enhanced by intuition enables you to understand and explain complex ideas, and you’ll also be able to derail misunderstandings before they even happen. Providing tasty treats could also help smooth ruffled waters.

So might is the operative word there, since it basically says either this intriguing horror-scope might happen or it might not. Hrm.. perhaps they meant might come by my “desk” instead… that has been happening, though I wouldn’t say there were any really intense arguments … yet.

Help me please. I’m bored out of my mind, yet I have so so very much stuff to do. Day.. two… on the job for Brent and he’s doing great. He was supposed to come over at 10 am to begin his training, but didn’t show. Since i’m not allowed to walk into D/L to talk to him and he knows that, it’s not like I was going to go get him. No soup for you today then. Who cares. Like I want to babble on about how to use this POS siteconfg program. Like I want to be creating all these lame ass filler pages for new sites to launch this month, though. There needs to be a third alternative, I’m pretty sure.

Other things that require babble …

1) People, take some initiative, use your brain, and stop waiting for other people to make your decisions for you. /end work vent

2) Saw a “high-speed” chase yesterday… state trooper and motorcycle. I know I was in the fast lane doing nearly 90 when I noticed the headlamp of the motorcycle RUSHING up behind me. I watched it weave through traffic at incredible speed, rapt with attention and just knowing at any moment this guy was gonna lose it, but he didn’t. I had already lost site of him in traffic far ahead of me before I saw the bluelights flashing in the distance behind me…. the state trooper riding half in the fast lane, half on the shoulder, at the best speed he could muster in 5 o’clock traffic. I, of course, was NOT doing 90 when he passed me. The corvette i’d been following and myself got over to the right in plenty of time to let him pass us smoothly, then of course we got to watch him get bogged down behind cars that couldn’t get over. Why do people freak out and hit their brakes when they can’t get over? If you are neck in neck with a guy, you are in the fast lane, and a cop is FLYING up behind you — OBVIOUSLY after the motorcycle — do you hit your brakes and slow down to get behind the guy to the right, or just speed up a little and get over. Well, most folks hit their brakes. That state trooper wasn’t getting anywhere. I can’t imagine any way he ever caught that guy. At the time, northbound traffic was nearly stopped, and I saw the usual helicopter hovering over all that mess, but I never noticed the helicopter moving to try to track the motorcycle. … anyway.

3) I started (finally) reading The Sweet Potato Queen’s Book of Love last night, which Magoo got me for my birthday, way back when. I was doing that “i’m going to hate myself if i don’t go to bed now” thing, but when I got in bed, I was so restless I had to do something. OMG, I know she told me it was great, but I just never managed to start it… I have to report that is some major funny shit! I read half the book last night before James came to bed. I’m really looking forward to finishing it tonight, though.. when that’s done… what shall I read next? Maggie.. loan me some more funny books.

4) Speaking of the Maginator, I have to say… I love her. She is so funny. She just makes me laugh and laugh. I thank whatever powers that be that she makes time to entertain me with her funny emails from work. You make my day, girlie.

5) Since I’m on a “speaking of” vein … Tiger, I have to tell you I’m so looking forward to that suited and booted thing. WHAT a great idea!

6) and Skittles, dear one … you know I miss you every day at work, and not just when I’m busy. Who the hell am I supposed to go shopping with at lunch, Jason? Well, I mean, he did go try on that skirt that time, but still… NOT. You need to remember that you can’t cut yourself off from your friends right now because times like now is what we’re here for.

Anyway… can somebody make time jump up from 2 pm to say… 5:30 ish? please, can you, huh?

    3) you shall be happy to know that your sweet potato queens urges shall not go undenied. there is a sequel. and, for my birthday, my mom sent me the 3rd SPQ’s book. so all will be well with the world.

    4) no problem. glad i can be of service. but, the thing is, my “entertaining” emails are mostly serious. which, i suppose, makes them all the more entertaining. being funny is my release from doing such boring work.

    5) i forgot to express my “ditto-ness” for the Sooted and Booted thing. so, um, ditto? yeah. i too am pretty jazzed about getting gussied up and sloshed. πŸ™‚

    …it’s only 2:30? πŸ™

My mother gave me the sequel to that SPQ book. Luckily, I haven’t read it yet. I want to read the one you have, first. She swears up and down it’s all that and a bag of sweet potatoes.

I feel you completely regarding the ton of work shit to do but totally bored. I’ve been feeling just generally pissy today. Thankfully it is nearly 4 now – so the majority of the day is over now.

I know – I’m excited about Suited and Booted also. I really regretted missing that last year – and all for that brownies camping trip – “fuck the brownies”.

But Raj and whoever else are the powers that be are great party planners. We are sure to have a very good time.

And finally, I’ve read the first of the Sweet Potato Queen books and loved it. I knew there was a sequel but not a threequel. We’ll have to swap out with the Marvelous Maggie (see, I’m sucking up already heehee – I said sucking.)

Well, if you hadn’t been a slacker last year maybe you would be her hubby right now! Where is that ring for her anyway? I don’t remember seeing it on her finger last time we hung out. πŸ˜‰

i’m just going to ignore all this and pretend that you didn’t call him hubby.. that he didn’t FREAK at being called hubby.. and that any of this might possibly be offensive. Perhaps i should screen it.
