What a pleasant evening…

Sometimes, after a crazy long day, and several crazy lanes of traffic trying to keep you from getting home, once you finally do get there, the last thing you want to do is pile back into your car and drive some more. Hence, our lovely evening out to enjoy a patio someplace turned into a lovely evening in enjoying our own patio. And why not? We had some lovely raspberry lemonade that mixes so well with the Absolut Citron & ice to make some wonderfully delicious patio-worthy drinks. Add a few candles, some choice mp3s, a couple friends, and you wind up with some interesting college drinking stories. Can’t wait until the days are a bit longer so we can enjoy the bigger patio with picnic table we have out back, but I think even Kitty enjoyed just hanging on our balcony.

managed to msg in a hello from his pool game with friend Nick in Chattavegas. Then msg’d an urgent need to get Magoo on the phone to talk about a funky job offer he’d just gotten. Sounds like 1 year, solo, Marshall Islands, they pay food & housing the whole time on top of salary, and he works toward security clearance… which sounds like a ticket to a longterm job in Hawaii and what he wants…. except… IF he wants to bring anyone with him to the Marshall Islands, they won’t pay jack except his salary, and the both of them would be stuck together on the whopping 3-mile long Marshall Islands, 6-hours from anywhere by plane. I know he’s considering it, with the security clearance thrown in the mix, but … well, he didn’t ask my opinion, but I’d say don’t go. Bad form to drop a contract you JUST accepted with Microsoft for this. Even with security clearance, I’m thinking the Microsoft thing would end up just looking bad.

Blah… anyway.. it’s a new dawn, it’s a new day. We’re planning to hit the LJ atlanta community meetup tonight I believe. Short and sweet. Meet & greet the freaks.

At work, Kramer is back. Earned a big high-five slap from David Camp as they passed in the corridor. Yeah, I’m sure Kramer is thrilled, and well, lest we forget David Camp PICKED him to fire only last week? I guess high-five translates to “sorry I fired you last week, but at least you’re back to fix all the stuff you had broken before you left, and will probably be ready to fire by the next round in April, glad to see you!”

I have to say I’m loving these Evanescense and Zwan cds at work. The cd player going on the desktop is so much less distracting than the headphones. I can still hear, aka evesdrop, if I choose to tune in, otherwise, it’s just loud enough to be pleasing.

Jeez, I’m babbling. Just.. in a good mood I think. Never expected to get tipsy on a Monday night. Was fun.

that monday night chillfest was exactly what i needed. i know i didn’t mention it, but it was.

as for your friend, the official word is now that i can’t go, period, unless i’m his wife. *insert bitter beer face here*. seeing that the army owns the entire island, that’s pretty much a non-negotiable. and he seems to think he can get out of the microsoft gig without shooting himself in the ass… :/ so, outlook is not good. well, for me, at least.

Don’t say outlook isn’t good. They haven’t talked salary, for one. The Army owns the entire base? Shyeah, he’ll enjoy that. Ask him what he’ll have to wear to work. He’s going to be stuck on an itty bitty island NOT designed for sight-seeing. If he goes… he’ll be making the bucks and will just have to fly to visit you, or meet you in Hawaii, or something. Otherwise, if he goes, knowing he won’t see you for a year… not like he’ll have much to choose from to hook up out there … it COULD work. Niece Angela and her beau survived year with her in Hawaii and him in Florida and only one visit a year. It happens. He’d be getting security clearance, and you could be scoping out jobs and locales in Hawaii.

Not sure what the right thing to say is, but if you want help trying to chain him to something to keep him around, let me know.
