Age doesn’t always bring wisdom. Sometimes age comes alone.

Still pondering sweet 16 gifts that I can live with. The good news is, although her birthday was today, I get to wait until Easter to deliver my present. I needed the extra time anyway…
I’m thinking books…
The Real Rules for Girls
or Love and Other Four-Letter Words
and/or I guess Sloppy Firsts: A Novel.
She’s not a big reader now, but she really used to be, and I just feel like the right girly-girl-power-common-sense sort of book might be the way to go. Might mean more than just a pretty card with a long note from me. Overall, it may suck to get books for sweet 16, but hell, i’ll throw $20 in the card or something for gas money. I want to get her a journal or a sketchbook, too, but… I dunno. I WANT her to be half as bright now as she used to seem to be pre-puberty, but I dont think that’s coming back easy.
Oh.. and while perusing books tonight, found “The Bad Girls Guide to Getting What You Want” which I’m afraid somebody needs to buy so I can borrow it…. kidding. Poor now. Get paid friday. I’ll buy it. Looks like “The Bad Girl’s Guide to the Party Life ” is up for advance order. Hrm.
Oh well… it’s late late and I should go night night… er um.. Go watch BBCAmerica in bed until I have funky Monty Python related Q-bit dreams again.

Why not go cheesy and give her something uplifting? I like the Chicken Soup for the Soul books. They have one called “Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul.” Maybe a book of positive stories is just what she needs?
